Fluno app
Fluno is a mobile operator app that I did as a design assignment task.
With complete creative freedom, I had the opportunity to conceptualize the app, determine its features, and establish its overall look and feel within a five-day timeframe. The entire process was exhilarating and allowed me to fully explore my design skills and ideas.
Role & timeline
I was working on this design assignment while applying for a new job in May 2020 and had a time limitation of 5 days. I was sent a document with the UX-related functionalities that had to be included in the project. I researched other mobile operator apps, worked on the concept and wireframes. The next step was UI elements and UX flows.
Problem
Here’s the design task I was sent:
Research
It was my first time working on a mobile operator project. Also, I had limited time so the first step was detailed research. I downloaded a lot of similar apps, searched through the internet, and analyzed a lot of applications and examples. I also bought sim cards from all mobile operators from Serbia to understand how their apps work. I researched potential users and how I could respond to their needs.
Wireframes
While working on the wireframes I wanted to focus on the tasks I got but also to design other parts of the app that were missing to create a consistent basic flow.
UI design and branding
When I was sure about the direction wireframes were going I wanted to focus on designing UI elements. Also, started playing with the branding.
Results
As a result, I came up with an application design that is simple, practical, and user-friendly. The look and feel of the app is minimal, flat yet bold, without unnecessary details and steps and easy to use. I sent the design to friends and potential users, wanting to see their impressions and how they manage. This step helped me a lot in resolving my doubts and brought me closer to the final design.
